My background is Interior Design. I obtained my degree from Mount Royal University in Calgary, a CIDA accredited school, in 2003. Along with my interest in Interior Design, I’ve always had a love of the outdoors and spend as much time in nature as time allows. Ski instructing has been one way for me to get my outdoor fix.
Currently, I now work for Teknion, a furniture design manufacturer. I am based out of Vancouver, BC, and my main role is working with architects and designers, helping them with furniture solutions for their projects.
Teknion has been a supporter and promoter of WELL since it launched and our Director of Sustainable Programs is on the WELL Faculty, so WELL is part of our company culture. It was only a matter of time before I became a WELL AP. I love all that it stands for, especially the ties with nature!
Wellness to me means balance, that each part of my being needs to be balanced to be healthy: the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Those aspects are like spokes of the wheel...if ones off, the wheel doesn’t roll properly. I maintain this balance through meditation, walks in the woods (forest bathing!), listening to music, reading interesting books, getting enough sleep, watching my food intake and getting a variety of exercise that I find fun! I also walk my neighbour’s dog when he’s not home. If only I could get us an office dog...that should be part of the MIND concept...one dog per 500ft2!
